The house and five bedrooms

Welcome to Saint Fargeau !

La Maison Jeanne d’Arc, is a guesthouse in Saint Fargeau in Burgundy, which offers five guestrooms and casual cooking classes . It is a stop in a wonderful historic village located only 1h30 from Paris.

Situated one minute away from the castle, at the foot of the church, this village home housed Joan of Arc in 1429. A welcoming porch opens onto an interior garden and courtyard. It is easy to park in the street. The shops are close by.

The castle with its night tours, and famous pageant will delight you. Kids will love to visit the ferme du chateau (farm with its live animals). 15 minutes away by car is the medieval site Guédelon, immersing you in the 13th century.

Fan of Colette can visit her house in St Sauveur en Puisaye and will inevitably stop to buy its tasty bread from sourdough baker Maureille. On the way, visit the Poterie de la Bâtisse with its 18th century’s kiln. You will love the exquisite castle of Ratilly and may discover the mural in the Church of Moutiers which is nestled in a shady grove country side on the road to St Amand en Puisaye, a pottery village with attractive shops including a very discreet and very recommended jeweler.

For those who love wine, Sancerre is less than 45 minutes by car. Within equal distance, you will find Burgundy vineyards  around Auxerre, Irancy, Chitry, Coulanges la Vineuse and Chablis. Further south, is the golden hillsides of  Beaune and Dijon.

The inevitable and spiritual Vézelay is at the edge of the Morvan.

Visits, walks, activities…

La Maison Jeanne d’Arc —the house Joan of Arc—housed the famous warrior.  And also the famous mother Boutevilain, the hilarious grocer of the village. Between history and delicacies, now it’s my turn, after a serious facelift of the place.

Choose one of the five bedrooms I have prepared for you or rent the whole house if you wish. Enjoy your stay, relax, have fun, travel in historic Saint-Fargeau, visit its beautiful castle and region, or take a cooking class without any fuss or hoopla.

Rejuvenate yourself in a soothing atmosphere with a good book or a movie, I’ll take care of the rest!
